Central Expressway extension planned to Gannoruwa
Minister Bimal Rathnayake announced plans to extend the Central Expressway to Gannoruwa, while halting the LRT project due to high costs and limited passenger numbers. Railway reconstruction between Colombo and Kandy is expected by year-end or early 2027.
