Parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga, raising a special point in Parliament, stated that there is a food shortage in the canteen after the lunch hour. "Honourable Speaker, I went to the canteen to get food. There was only red rice and curries available.
"Honourable Speaker, I went to the canteen to get food. There was nothing else to eat," he addressed. Ranatunga further requested that steps be taken to ensure adequate food for all Members of Parliament on sitting days, as there is no food in the canteen by around 2:30 PM.
