Government to replace ageing vehicle fleet after Rs. 25 billion spent on repairs in 2025

Speaking at the National Trade Union Conference, the President said the cost of maintaining outdated vehicles had become a considerable burden on public finances. He said a new fleet would be introduced as part of a wider effort to modernise the public sector and improve its efficiency. President Dissanayake also said the government was assessing the structure and functions of existing state institutions.
