Google disables AI tools for schoolchildren
Google has announced it will turn off AI tools by default for K-12 student accounts, amid criticism over integrating AI features into its educational apps. The changes allow schools to opt-in and affect products like Gemini and Google Search.

The changes also mean schools will not be able to give students Google Search without its AI features. In August, Google opened its Gemini chatbot in Classroom to students of all ages. The feature was switched on by default for students at schools that had already enabled Gemini.
