The driver of the cement-laden lorry involved in the fatal accident at the Kurugoda junction in Akurana was arrested by the Alawathugoda

Four people, a woman and three men, were killed in the accident, which happened on the Matale-Kandy main road this morning, the 19th. Eight others were injured and admitted to the Akurana and Kandy hospitals. Police said the accident occurred when the lorry driver lost control of the vehicle, which collided with several vehicles travelling on the road and with several people who were on the road.
