Former Police Inspector Jagath Nishantha, who was wanted in connection with the shooting incident near a prominent hotel in Weligama in 2023, has been arrested. The shooting, which occurred on December 31, 2023, claimed the life of a Police officer. Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon was also accused in relation to the incident.
