Chinthaka Hewapathirana of the National People's Power (NPP) was elected Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha on Monday securing 22 votes in favour and 21 against. At the time of the previous administration, the SJB had held control of the Pradeshiya Sabha.
