The Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) has stated that it will take steps to intensify trade union action in the future, as no proper solutions have yet been provided to the problems and crises facing the state university system.
Ilangasinghe said discussions had been held with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education in an attempt to resolve the issues. However, no response has been received and no solutions have been forthcoming, he said. In view of the continued lack of progress, FUTA is now preparing to step up its trade union action to press for solutions to the issues affecting the state university system.
