Lawyer summoned over viral video alleging assault at Dematagoda Police Station
The Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has launched an investigation into the circulation of a social media video allegedly defaming the Dematagoda Police, on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to the Police Media Division, the lawyer, who had publicised the video, was summoned to the CCIB today (26), where a statement was recorded from him. Police said the video circulating on social media contains a false claim that a young man was summoned to the Dematagoda Police Station on or around October 22, 2026, and questioned on suspicion of writing Was Kavi.
