Drug Shipment Routed Through Courier Detected
A large consignment of narcotics imported into Sri Lanka through a private courier service has been taken into police custody following a joint operation involving police and Customs officials. Police said the drugs were discovered during an investigation launched based on information obtained from a suspect who had been arrested for possessing narcotics. The inquiry, carried out by officers attached to the Western Province North Crimes Division, led investigators to the shipment being held at Customs. Among the narcotics recovered were 3 kilograms and 599 grams of Kush and 2 kilograms and 409 grams of Hashish, according to police. Authorities stated that the drug consignment was located with the assistance of Customs officials and was subsequently taken into police custody for further investigations.
