The agreement

By using LakFeed you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site.

They are written to be read, so they are shorter and plainer than most. That does not make them less binding.

What we provide

A news aggregator covering Sri Lankan publishers in English, Sinhala and Tamil; exchange rates collected from banks that publish them; gold prices collected from jewellers; and a set of free calculators.

We provide all of it as it is, without charge and without an account.

What we are not

LakFeed is not a newsroom, a bank, a broker, a money changer or a financial adviser.

We do not write the articles, we do not set the rates, and we do not buy or sell gold. Everything on the site is a report of what somebody else published, with a link to them. This is the most useful sentence on this page, which is why it is near the top of it.

What you may do

Read LakFeed, use the calculators, and share links to it, for personal or commercial purposes. You do not need our permission for any of that.

What you may not do is scrape the site, hammer it with automated requests, resell the data as your own, or copy the pages wholesale. Not because the data is precious, but because a scraper costs us server capacity that readers are using.

If you want the rates or gold prices as data, ask. Write to [email protected] and see the Advertise page. We would rather give you a clean feed than find out from our server logs.

Who owns what

Every headline, summary and thumbnail belongs to the newsroom that published it, and appears here under fair use for the purpose of pointing readers at the original. We claim no ownership of it and we never show the full text.

The site itself, its design, and the way the data is organised are ours.

If you are a publisher and you want your work handled differently, the DMCA page says how, and we do not argue about it.

Rates, prices and advice

The rates and prices here are what banks and jewellers published, collected automatically by our software. They can be out of date, they can be wrong at the source, and our software can misread them.

Confirm the number with the bank or the shop before you act on it. A published rate is an advertised rate; what you get at the counter depends on the amount, the branch, whether it is notes or a transfer, and that day's cut-off times.

Nothing on LakFeed is financial advice, and we accept no liability for a decision made on the strength of a number you read here.

Links to other sites

LakFeed is mostly links. When you follow one you leave our site and we have no control over what is on the other end, and no responsibility for it.

A link is not an endorsement. We aggregate broadly on purpose, which means the site carries publishers who disagree with each other, and sometimes ones we would not agree with either.

No warranty

LakFeed is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise the site will be available, that the data will be accurate or current, or that it will be free of errors.

We do try. This clause is about what you can hold us to, not about how much we care.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, LakFeed and the people who run it are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, including a decision made on a rate or price you read here.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to LKR 1,000.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and we will change the date at the top when we do. Continuing to use LakFeed after a change means you accept the updated version.
