The Ministry of Health and Mass Media says that 504 Disaster Relief Medical Teams are operating islandwide to provide services to people affected by the recent disaster.Its National Coordinator for Disaster Management, Specialist Dr. Samiddhi Samarakoon, said these medical teams are providing services at 1,041 Safety Shelters across the island.She stated that the medical teams have completed health examinations for people staying in the safety shelters, provided necessary medicines, and referred those needing further treatment to hospitals and health institutions.Dr. Samarakoon also said that if additional medical teams are needed in specific areas or villages, the hotline number 1926, which connects to the Disaster Management and Response Unit of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, is available 24 hours a day.
