National Freedom Front leader and former Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa has been released on bail after being produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Indrajith Buddhadasa.Meanwhile, another suspect who had been arrested over the same incident and earlier released on police bail also appeared before court today and was granted bail.The Magistrate ordered that the suspects be released on a surety bail of Rs. 500,000 each.After considering the facts presented, the court directed the Thalangama Police to complete the investigations into the incident and report progress at a future date.The case is scheduled to be taken up again on August 25.Weerawansa was arrested in connection with an incident reported on May 18 near the Parliamentary grounds, where he is accused of obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties and engaging in criminal force.He had been taken into custody after being summoned to the Thalangama Police Station earlier today to provide a statement in relation to the incident.
