New Price Ceiling for Imported Rice

The Consumer Affairs Authority has issued an extraordinary gazette notification imposing Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) on several imported rice varieties, in a move aimed at curbing excessive pricing and protecting consumers.According to the gazette, the newly regulated MRPs per kilogram are as follows:Kekulu Rice (Imported): Rs. 210Nadu Rice (Imported): Rs. 220Samba Rice (Imported): Rs. 230Ponni Samba (Imported): Rs. 240Keeri Ponni Rice (Imported): Rs. 255The Authority emphasized that all importers, suppliers, distributors, and retailers are legally bound to sell these rice varieties at the stipulated prices.
