Kapila Chandrasena's Legal Team Testifies In Court
The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court has ordered the further magisterial inquiry into the death of former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena to be postponed until the 9th.The recording of evidence in the death investigation was taken up for the eighth day today before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.During the proceedings, President's Counsel Rienzie Arsakularatne, who appeared for Chandrasena in a prior case, along with his junior counsel Udara MuhandiramGE, testified before the court.While giving evidence, the President's Counsel stated that he had no knowledge regarding the circumstances that led to Kapila Chandrasena's death.He further informed the court that he had represented Chandrasena in a case before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, and that his interactions with him were limited to providing legal advice and discussing matters related to the case.Junior Counsel Udara Muhandiramge, in his testimony, stated that he assisted in the same case under the instructions of the President's Counsel.The attorney also noted that Chandrasena had been granted bail on May 5 in connection with the case.However, due to issues identified in the Grama Niladhari certificates of two out of the three sureties presented for the bail bond, the court had rejected those two sureties from signing the bail documents.As a result, Chandrasena was unable to fulfill the bail conditions on that day. The following day, he successfully completed the bail requirements and was released from court.Subsequently, the Officer-in-Charge of the Kollupitiya Police also gave evidence before the court.Further hearings in the case have been scheduled for the 9th of this month.
