The case filed against Rakhitha Rajapakshe, son of former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Samagi Jana Balawegaya Horana Electoral Organiser Charith Abeysinghe, and former Civil Aviation Director, Warushahennadige Aruna Sri Chathuranga, was taken up again before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.The case was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.At the hearing, lawyers appearing for the suspects informed the court that an oral bail application would be made on their behalf.After considering the submissions, the Chief Magistrate scheduled the case to be taken up again at 11.30 a.m. for the bail application.
The payment was allegedly sought in exchange for influencing official action to prevent his transfer to the Boossa High Security Prison, secure the removal of his detention orders, and facilitate his transfer to another prison. 500 million was later reduced to Rs. 120 million was allegedly accepted as an advance payment.
